Events

I document events the way I photograph people—slowly, and with an eye for what's actually happening in the room.

Most event photography chases posed smiles and wide shots of the crowd. I look for something closer to the truth of the moment: the quiet conversation by the bar, the artist watching their own work get seen for the first time, the audience member enraptured by the performance.

I've covered gallery openings, performances, and arts festivals across Brooklyn, Manhattan and Philadelphia—shooting digital, film, or both, depending on what the event calls for.

If you're planning something and want it documented with the same care I bring to a portrait session, let’s have a conversation.

Axel is so professional, communicative, and easy to work with. They are an ideal event photographer: able to read the room, attuned to the people they're taking photos of, and adaptable. They work with the utmost care, and it shows. I am extremely pleased with the photos they got of my event.
