Selected Portraits

A good portrait isn't a performance. It's a negotiation between what you want people to see, and what's actually there.

I spend most of a session getting past the first version of you, the one that shows up automatically when a camera is in the room. What I'm after comes later: the unguarded second, the look that's more accurate than flattering. That's the picture worth keeping.

I work with artists, writers, musicians, and creatives who want to be photographed as themselves, not who they're performing for the room.

Ready to be seen as you are? Let’s have a conversation.

Axel is a pleasure to work with—patient, thoughtful, & skilled at guiding folks through finding the right angles and best light without touching anyone. They take such stunning, personal photos! I cannot recommend them highly enough.
